Tadashi Onishi

Photographing the cityscape and street life combined with social nature — to find common ground between street and documentary photography in Tokyo.

Full statement+

As part of his daily routine, Onishi documents the scenes before him through photography. While his journey began with street photography, his style has since evolved into a broader form of everyday snapshots that encompasses street photography.

When taking photos, he makes a conscious effort to set aside his own intentions and thoughts as much as possible; during the selection process, he captures the meaning that emerges from the photographs themselves, thereby defining them as Onishi's work.
