VoidTokyo Vol.11, under the theme "Perceiving the Void," is a volume that captures present-day Tokyo from a variety of angles through the individual viewpoints of fourteen photographers.
Photography is not simply an act of recording a city, but an act of trying to grasp something that can only emerge from within it. While preserving that starting point, VoidTokyo continues to layer in even more diverse perspectives with this, its eleventh issue.
This issue features nine regular members, joined by five guest photographers.
The regular members are Joel Pulliam, Johan Brooks, Kohei Kitamura, Kohei Kudo, Kyosei Yoshiike, Tadashi Onishi, Tadashi Yamashita, Tokio Nose, and Tatsuo Suzuki.
The guest photographers are Jesse Freeman, Ryota Yamamoto, Young HAMA, Yume Katsumi, and Yusuke Nagata.
The perspectives of photographers viewing Tokyo from different generations, different sensibilities, and different distances intersect within a single volume, newly bringing the city's present to the surface.
Even when looking at the same Tokyo, the scenery that appears differs from photographer to photographer. VoidTokyo Vol.11 is a provocative volume that attempts to let these intersecting and at times overlapping perspectives manifest on its pages.
